Little Olive - Part II

I just want to have a moment with Photoshop. I love what a difference a few clicks of a mouse can make! I *finally* have the latest version installed, and re-edited Olive's photos. Much better!

Greatest Smile

I'm spending two Sundays taking pics of the babies in the nursery at church for a cute board they are putting together. I couldn't resist posting this photo. (The bar across the bottom is a space for his name.) This little guy has the cutest smile ever! Watch out--I think it's contagious!

Little Olive

What a big day--two newborn baby shoots in a seven hour span! I'm learning a lot, including the necessity of getting some lighting equipment soon! Olive is SO cute. Her skin is a little bit too big for her, I love it! No potty accidents in this shoot--she decided to go right when they were taking the diaper off. Perfect timing! However, her belly button fell off in the middle of the shoot. Parenthood is a whole different world!

Lydia Faith

I have a new found respect for newborn baby photographers. Meet Lydia Faith at the ripe old age of 11 days. I assumed she would sleep through the shoot, and be posable in just about any position, but shooting newborns takes a lot of finessing and a whole lot of patience. The bench shots were my first right after she woke up. The first shot includes the first blanket I laid her on. I took the shot, turned around for a second, and came back...to a big puddle. Her big sisters (and brother, not shown) loved giving her kisses. It was a fun adventure!

Neighborhood Photographer

Well we did it. We bit the bullet and *finally* bought me a new camera. I was only expecting a camera body and lens but what I ended up getting was beyond expectation! Not just a camera--but 4 lenses, an aluminum briefcase with places for everything, plus a soft carrying case and other accessories! Excited doesn't even begin to cover it! And to make sure it gets tons of use ASAP, I put together a postcard to advertise myself in our neighborhood. Since you have to be known before you can use the wonderful word-of-mouth marketing, I thought I'd take advantage of the upcoming holidays and advertise a special Christmas package. Everyone wants convenience--especially people with kids. So I am playing with the headline "Did you know a photographer lives in your neighborhood? How's that for convenience?" It turned out kind of fun--now I wait for the business to roll in so that I can pay that camera off!

It's the Little Moments

Josh's mom and little sister were visiting last week. While they were here, we had two nights of amazing thunderstorms. During one of the downpours, Hannah ran out into the rain and enjoyed it as only a child can (while I sat safely under the cover of the front porch watching...oh to be a child again!)
